Unpack Your Boxes: A Lesson on transition

Unpack Your Boxes: A Lesson on transition

Good morning and HAPPY FRIDAY! I hope you are all staying warm in this cool, yet LOVELY November weather! Maybe it will actually stay cool for Thanksgiving this year. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that that is the case!

My sister and I have been reading through the Bible with Good Morning Girls. It’s a three year commitment, and when I found out we were going to be reading Numbers for the next two months, I about quit. I remember there being really neat nuggets in Numbers the last time I read it, but honestly, I had recently walked through some discouragement and thought I would benefit more from reading through Psalms. Or moping through Ecclesiastes. Because OBVIOUSLY I know better than God... Not. God always knows best :) And what I have learned is that when you are faithful to a commitment, GOD WILL BLESS IT.

Stillness in the Midst of the Battle

Stillness in the Midst of the Battle

Good morning, sweet readers! I am currently sipping on a cup of hot coffee in Starbucks across from the most handsome man in all the land (none other than my Trice!), and it dawned on me. I am totally THAT person. The Starbucks is freezing, so I had no choice but to grab my son's cowboy blanket out of the car and wrap it around me while I write. It's complete with a cowboy hat hood and some tassels, so I am fitting right in here in Texas ;) But seriously. I am officially THAT mom. I drive a minivan, listen to more kid music than non-kid music and use my son's blanket in public. Five years ago I would have totally judged me. But today, I am loving it. I am loving right where I am at. I love that my kids have helped me to be a little more undignified and care a little less about propriety and the opinions of others. I love how free and confident my kids are, and I am learning to live a little more freely and confidently as well. So thank you Emerson and Etta Jayne for making me be THAT MOM! :)

The Belated Train Party Post

The Belated Train Party Post

Today I am FINALLY going to post about Emerson's birthday party. I tried to write about it a few weeks ago, but we all saw what happened then.

But today, I will stay on track... or should I say train track? :)

Trice and I got back from our 6 year anniversary trip THE NIGHT BEFORE Emerson's party. That's right. THE NIGHT BEFORE. We couldn't have pulled it off without Team Awesome: GrandMere, Aunt Lacy and Aunt Money. Thank you all SO MUCH for your help and creativity with Emerson's party! We got to throw his party at our house this year, so my little mommy heart was so excited! Here is what we did:

One Day: A Motherhood Reflection

One Day: A Motherhood Reflection

Well, this was supposed to be a post about Emerson's birthday party, but then my fingers started typing uncontrollably and I got all emotional. Go figure ;) I'll post about his birthday party soon!

My sweet little Emerson turned FOUR on August 16th. FOUR! Can you believe it? That means that I got pregnant with him almost 5 years ago. When I say that, that really makes me have to catch my breath for a second.

I always knew I wanted kids one day, but that one day snuck up on me when I was least expecting it.
